TOPIC: SENT WITH PROTECTION
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee." (Acts 26:17, KJV)
PREPARATORY QUESTION
What are you avoiding in your call as a Christian because you expect it to cost you?
On his way to Damascus, Jesus knocked down Paul. Then this same Jesus raised Paul and gave him a mission. In our theme verse today, Jesus names the risk ahead of Paul.
Paul would be sent to two groups: "the people," meaning Israel, and the Gentiles. Both would resist him. Jesus did not hide this. He promised deliverance in the same sentence that He gave the assignment.
The word "delivering" in the theme verse is ongoing. Further, it does not say Paul would never be hurt. Paul stood before Agrippa in chains as he told this story. He had been beaten, jailed, and shipwrecked. Yet he was still alive and still speaking. The promise was not a life without harm. The promise was that nothing could end the work before Christ finished it.
Note also the word "now." Jesus did not say He would send Paul after he felt ready. He said, "now I send thee." Paul was sent in the same hour he was lifted.
Many people want protection to come before obedience. Paul received them together. Jesus gave no plan for every danger. He gave Himself as the one who delivers.
This also corrects a common fear. We often think a clear call means a safe road. Paul's life shows a different pattern. The call was clear, the road was hard, and the deliverance was real.
Key Takeaway
Christ does not promise an easy path. He promises to preserve you for the work He has given you.
Beloved, do not measure God's protection by how little you suffer. Measure it by whether you are still standing and still faithful. Obey now, and trust Him with the outcome.
Remain blessed
